The “Rice Yield Forecasting & Cultivated Paddy Area Identification” project has been successfully tested in the Ampara District and is being implemented separately in two parts for the large and small scale rice cultivating districts. The project forecasts the yield in each season, about a month before harvesting, and the extent of paddy lands cultivated during that season is also calculated. It is currently in the process of forecasting the harvest of the 2019/20 Maha season.
