What we are doing?

The Communication Division carries out research and development projects, test and measurement services, consultancy work, deep diagnostic & advanced hardware recovery, Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses for the industry, and intermediate courses for the youth. The division mainly focuses on industry initiated R&D activities using embedded control system designing, SCADA systems,RF ID solutions, data acquisition and communication in both wired and wireless networks. Thedivision has testing facilities for radio frequency application in cellular and broadcasting industry and forwired networks.On clientrequirements consultancy work is under taken in the fields of CCTV, Radio Frequency applications and mechatronics.The division conducts CPD and Intermediate courses to the industrial community and general youth. Any type of electronic hardware based equipment diagnosis and recovery using reverse engineering technologies are carried out by the division.

R & D Projects

The division has successfully completed several R&D Projects and some of these technologies are ready for technology transfer. At present division carries out projects such as Remote reservoir levl monitoring a logging, Solar power based solution for semaphore signals,Railway level crossing bell, Bearing temperature monitoring interface for diesel generators, RF ID Firmware for Library automation.

Our Team
  • Mr. Kavindra Jayawardena – Director (Communication Engineering)
    B.Sc. Eng(Hons) graduate from University of Moratuwa. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma from University of Moratuwa. He is a Charted Engineer and a Member of both IESL and IET(UK). His research interests are in the areas of Microcontroller based system designing and advanced hardware recovery.
  • Mr. P D S Pushpakumara – Research Scientist
    B.Sc. (Phy.) graduate from University of Sri Jayawardenapura. He also holds a M.Sc. in Industrial Automation from University of Moratuwa. His research interests are in the areas of Robotics, Electronics & Microcontroller based system designing.
  • Ms. Oshadi Thalpawila – Research Engineer
    B.Sc. ( Eng.) (equivalent) graduate from the institute of Engineers Sri Lanka. Her research interests are in the areas of Power Electronics, Embedded Systems and Automation, Electronics.
  • Mr. R A D K Sampath – Electronics Engineer
    BTech (Eng) Electronic & Communication Engineering, graduate from Open University of Sri Lanka. Studying Electronic & Automation PGdip/MSC program at University of Moratuwa. Research interests are in the areas of Embedded System design, Robotics& Control Systems.
  • Ms. W D Chamika – Research Engineer
    B.Sc. (Hons) Mechatronics Engineering graduate from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. Her research interests are in the areas of Robotics, Artificial muscles and Control systems.
