In order to promote and popularize Astronomy in Sri Lanka, the Arthur C Clark Institute (ACCIMT) has already launched several Programmes and activities. The objective of these Programmes is to enhance the knowledge on Astronomy and other space related fields of the school teachers, instructor, students and general public.
As one of the activities of the above Programme, a teacher training workshop was conducted by the Astronomy Division of ACCIMT recently in collaboration with National Institute of Education (NIE), Maharagama.
The participated teachers and educators gathered wealth of knowledge about astronomy and usage of telescope and other instruments from the professional research scientists of ACCIMT. Well-known Professor Chandana Jayarathne, an astronomy expert of department of physics in University of Colombo, participated as a resource person for this workshop.
